The Factory of Terror- Canton, Ohio's premier haunted attraction - is now officiallythe largest haunted house on the planet, according to Guinness Book of World Records. The record 3,318 feetis a winding path through terror-filled hallways, mazes, rooms and dilapidated factory chambers. The Eslich Brothers' ongoing expansions enabled them to surpass the former record of 2,262 feet by an overwhelming 1,050-plus feet.

“Since we created The Factory of Terrorin 2002, our goal was always to make it the biggest and scariest haunted attraction in the world,” said Rich Eslich Jr. “It seemed like a crazy thing to say at the time, but here we are, entering our 9th season, with a bona fide world record.”

When asked how The Guinness Book of World Records entered the picture, John Eslichreplied, “We applied with Guinnesslast winter and have been patiently waiting for the best moment to make this happen. It only seems fitting that Friday the 13th be our day.”

The attempt was videotaped nonstop, as dictated by the stringent Guinnessrules. Several witnesses attended, including a professional surveyor, officials from the local fire department, a reporter and photographer from the Canton Repository, the Executive Director of the Canton Visitors Bureau, and a few family friends. All witness-written testimonial accounts were notarized, in compliance with Guinnessguidelines.

The Factory of Terroropens for business Friday, Sept. 24. A single ticket provides admission to four individually themed areas. The “Industrial Nightmare”mixes animated pneumatics and 50+ actors to revive the factory atmosphere back from the (un)dead, in all of its twisted, heart-pounding glory. The “Massacre on Mahoning”chills its visitors with gut-wrenching scenes of horror and mayhem.
