Letter to the Editor: Paula Prentice is the clear choice for Summit County Council, District 8
To the editor:
As the opportunity presents itself to vote for candidates in Summit County, it is important to remember which candidate is the most qualified for the Summit County Council, District 8, seat.
One candidate, Paula Prentice, is a tried and true Summit County Council member. She imposed strict regulations on "internet cafe" gambling parlors that preyed on the elderly in Summit County. She prevented a crisis for Portage Lakes businesses by stopping the state from lowering the lakes for dam repair, ensuring public safety for thousands of Summit County residents. She also was instrumental in fighting the pipeline crisis in Summit County, and worked tirelessly with the County Executive and the Chamber of Commerce on the CARES act, distributing money to small and minority businesses and enabling people to stay in their homes during these difficult times.
She is a well educated former public school teacher and administrator, who retired from Coventry Local Schools, and is a 38 year resident of Green.
Her opponent, Anthony DeVitis, has ties to former Ohio House Speaker, Larry Householder, currently charged with racketeering and conspiracy in a $61 million bribery and money laundering scheme tied to HB6 and First Energy. DeVitis received at least $5,000 in donations from Householder and nearly $35,000 from the First Energy PAC. (FEPAC) Disappointingly, I have found no evidence that any of these funds have been donated to any worthy causes to offset taking these tainted contributions.
Need I say more?
The choice is clear. Do we want uneducated, corrupted, Republican stooges sitting on our beloved Summit County Council, or do we want upstanding, dedicated, hard working, honest citizens, fighting for Summit County residents? Unequivocally, my vote is for Paula Prentice, past and future Representative for Summit County Council, District 8.
