COVENTRY TWP.  Over the years, a long list of successful high school football kickers from the greater Akron area have gone away from home to play college football, but Coventry senior Jack Fuller hopes to find success by staying local.

Fuller, who recorded 30 touchbacks and was 33 of 35 on point-after attempts as a senior for the Comets last fall, signed to play football for the Akron Zips on national signing day earlier this month.

Fuller, who was a three-time All-Portage Trail Conference selection in soccer and football, becomes the fourth Coventry player to sign with Akron in recent years, alongside Devon Jones, former teammate Dusty Burkhart and fellow Class of 2018 member Treon Sibley.

He joins an Akron program coming off a Mid-American Conference East Division title and just the third bowl berth in the program’s Division I era. Fuller was joined for his signing ceremony by his parents as well as members of the Coventry coaching staff.
