NEW FRANKLIN  Manchester senior high jumper Alyssa Matheny has signed her letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers this fall at Kent State University.

Matheny, a three-time state qualifier in the high jump, also reached the state meet as a junior in the long jump. She is a four-year letterwinner for the Panthers and holds the school records in the high jump and long jump.

Along with long jump and high jump, she also competes in the 100-meter hurdles and leads the girls track team in scoring this season. Matheny was joined for her signing by her parents, Leland and Cindy Matheny, as well as other family members.
