CANTON  Malone freshman Olga Branney (Green) earned back-to-back Great Midwest Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week awards to end the month of January.

Barney, who has put together an impressive indoor season in her first year for the Pioneers, broke the G-MAC’s high jump record for the second straight meet after placing first among 26 competitors with a mark of 5-feet, 5-inches at the Youngstown State University Invitational.

Her performance provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division II national championship meet and moved her into a tie with Laura McElrath for third on Malone's all-time performance list in the event.

Branney and her teammates have three remaining meets for the indoor season leading up to the G-MAC indoor track and field championships on Feb. 25, with the NCAA meet to follow in early march to cap the indoor season.
