SPRINGFIELD TWP.  On Feb. 2, Portage Trail Conference high school athletes and their families will have a chance to learn more about the college recruiting process in a seminar held at Springfield High School.

The Portage Trail Conference will hold an event on academic engagement and college recruiting for student-athletes and families interested in understanding the rules and procedures of recruiting. Led by Crestwood Athletic Director Bob Dean, the PTC will try to answer common questions coaches and school officials receive about recruiting. The event will include a presentation by Wittenberg University Athletic Director Gary Williams.

The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium and registration must be completed online by Jan. 31 at www.goo.gl/forms/GdRTxQQ2bgmkdEv73. Each individual attending the event must register separately.

Those who take part will receive basic information about academic preparedness for college athletics, academic standards at different levels of college athletics and the basics of how the recruiting process plays out.

The final half hour of the event will include a reception allowing attendees to pick up and review resources, ask questions of individual coaches and speakers and speak to current student-athletes about their experiences with recruiting. Additional information can be obtained by calling Bob Dean at 330-357-8205 ext. 1008.
