PLAIN TWP.  If you're driving down I-77 near Belden Village, it's hard to miss a new retail outlet popping up alongside the freeway.

That roadside visibility is what Duluth Development Co. had in mind when it selected the site at the corner of Everhard Road NW and Whipple Avenue for its Duluth Trading Company store.

The 14,500-square-foot store is set to open in October. Earlier this year, developers DeVille Development said the project was right on track.

It will be Duluth's fourth location in Ohio. The Wisconsin-based retailer, which specializes in work wear, casual wear and accessories, rapidly has expanded over the past few years. It operates stores in the Cleveland and Cincinnati areas and opened its latest Ohio location in Columbus in March. Duluth also has a store near Pittsburgh.

Duluth won't be alone on the 6-acre site that once held Colonial Lanes bowling alley. DeVille also has plans for two restaurants in buildings in front of the retailer.
