USACS employs more than 500 in corporate offices in Jackson Township, another 50 to 60 near Akron-Canton Airport.
JACKSON TWP. The mission of U.S. Acute Care Solutions (USACS) has remained the same for over two decades: to care for patients.
Originally named Emergency Medical Physicians, USACS staffs hospital emergency rooms with physicians.
Its first client in the early 1990s was Massillon Community Hospital (later Affinity Hospital). Today, the company staffs more than 200 emergency rooms across the nation.
“We were staffing around 80 hospitals by 2015 and decided to partner with other like-minded physician groups that same year. We then formed the new company and changed the name to U.S. Acute Care Solutions," said Marty Richmond, director of corporate communications.
USACS employs more than 500 people at the corporate offices on Dressler Road NW and another 50 to 60 workers at offices near Akron-Canton Airport.
Richmond said the company has flourished in Stark County for a number of reasons.
“The company was founded locally, and our first client was in Massillon and other earlier contracts were here, which made it easy to establish our corporate headquarters in the area,” he said.
“We purchased our current building in the late 1990s, and it has been big enough to accommodate our growth over the years. Plus, there is an abundance of local talent in the area to meet our corporate office needs.”
The campus at 4535 Dressler Road houses such operations as billing, marketing, IT, finance and accounting, and a legal department. Offices off of Mayfair Road primarily manage client services.
One of the contributing factors to USACS’s success over the years has been the many growing businesses, including new hotels and restaurants, along the Interstate 77 corridor and the expansion of Akron-Canton Airport.
“Many of our employees live in areas in and around Akron and Cleveland, so being so close to I-77 makes it a much easier commute for employees. We host conferences for between 100 and 200 people at a time, and it’s convenient for them to use the airport for traveling,” Richmond said.
He added, “The hotels in the area also make it convenient for our out-of-town guests to stay overnight.”
Richmond said the company continues to grow. Only a few days ago, 70 positions needed to be filled. The Dressler Road campus recently held its first job fair to promote the open positions.
USACS provides a number of services, including emergency and hospital medicine, physicians, residents, observational medicine, transitional care and post-acute care among others.
