The Springfield Local Schools would like to thank the supporters who voted and the volunteers who worked to support this levy.

Obviously, we are very disappointed. We are going to have to go back on the ballot in November because the need is still there. The Ohio Department of Education considers Springfield Local Schools to be in a "precautionary" financial state, with a deficit of $1.8 million this school year.

We needed a plan to eliminate these deficits, and the levy was our plan. This levy represents over $3 million new dollars a year and allows the district to support teachers and programs that are crucial to the education of our children. Without passing this levy, we will not be able to continue the current level of programming.

The Springfield Board of Education will be in discussions over the coming weeks to plan for the future. The Board of Education has always and will continue to strive to provide the best possible for Springfield students all while being as fiscally responsible as possible especially in these times of a global pandemic.
