JACKSON TWP. During the regular meeting on April 28, the Jackson Local Schools Board of Education approved replacing the roof of the northern side of Sauder Elementary this summer.


Assistant Superintendent Barry Mason said the roof is not reparable and must be replaced. He said that the northern side will be replaced this year and the remainder will be completed next year.


The district has contracted with Weatherproofing Technologies at a cost of $459,371. Superintendent Christopher DiLoreto said the money will come from the permanent improvement fund.


OTHER ACTIONS:


• Approved purchasing one school bus after receiving $19,735 through the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). The original price of the bus was $87,470 but the final cost with the money from ODE is $67,735.


• Approved refunding parents the spring athletic fees. There are approximately 86 students in grades seven and eight and 229 students in the high school whose parents will receive refunds.


• Heard the district has served 12,562 lunches to students since March 30. DiLoreto said that is an average of 628 lunches per day for the past 20 days at a cost of $1.50 to $1.60 per lunch.


• Went into executive session to discuss security and to consider the purchase of property for public purposes with no action taken.
