LAKE TWP. The Rev. Barbara Bond has been appointed as priest-in-charge of New Life Episcopal Church at 13118 Church Ave. NW, effective March 1.
Bond retired in 2016 after 10 years as rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Canton. Following retirement, she took a one-year post as interim rector at St. Andrew’s Episcopal in Cleveland.
She began conducting services at New Life in 2018 and now has been called to a permanent post.
Her background includes newspaper reporting, teaching piano and voice, singing opera, living 10 years in Germany, being a hospital chaplain, and serving as a rector or vicar in Episcopal parishes in Idaho, Pennsylvania and Ohio over the last 24 years.
Bond earned her master’s of divinity and doctorate in ministry in congregational development at Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, lll.
In addition to her ministry, Bond serves as president of Canton’s MacDowell Music Club.
A doll collector and amateur historian, she presents history to children in grades 2 to 6 through the American Doll Club at the North Canton Public Library.
Bond and her husband, Norm Van Cleve, reside in Canton.
