LAKE TWP. During the regular meeting on Feb. 24, the Lake Local Schools Board of Education approved refinancing two series of School Facility Improvement bonds.

The district will be refinancing Series A, in the principal amount of $8.1 million of the districts’ outstanding School Facilities Improvement Bonds. Series B is in the amount of $31.4 million of the districts’ outstanding School Facilities Improvement Bonds.

The current interest rate is 2.5 to 5 percent. The projected rate after refinancing is 2 to 2.5 percent.

“The lower rate for both series of bonds would result in a savings of over $2 million over the life of the bonds,” said Superintendent Kevin Tobin.
