JACKSON TWP. Tradition has it that Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus visit the Paul & Carol David YMCA in Jackson Township every year to have breakfast with the kids and parents. This year, that tradition continued as a couple of hundred kids stopped by for food, fun and time with St. Nick himself.

Executive Director Jean Campbell said the Breakfast with Santa is one of the YMCA’s signature events every year and one of the favorites. The event was held on Dec. 14.

“Santa arrives on a Jackson Township Fire Truck and every time I see him coming, I start crying,” Campbell said. “RoMaster was our sponsor this year and Chick-fil-A donated the food and Starbucks donated the coffee. This is also a fundraiser for us with the proceeds going to the financial assistance program to assist in membership for families in need, it’s part of our capital campaign.”

There was also a table craft for the kids to complete and the Jack & Jills chorus from Jackson High School sang for the kids. The highlight of the event was spending time with the big guy in a red suit.

While the kids got their time with St. Nick, many families joined in on the photos this year. Franklin Pack and his mom Barbara got a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Mom said that Franklin asked Santa for a MegaZord Power Ranger.

“This is just such a wonderful, wonderful event each year, and we all look forward to it every year,” Campbell said.
