JACKSON TWP.  During the regular meeting on Oct. 22, the Jackson Local Schools Board of Education approved sending a clarification Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Jackson Local School District and the Jackson Classified Professionals Association to the Ohio State Auditor’s office.

Superintendent Christopher DiLoreto said the state auditor’s office requested the district send the MOU to clarify vacation leave for classified employees.

OTHER ACTIONS:

- Heard a presentation from Sauder Elementary School Principal J.R. Reindel detailing what the elementary schools in the district are doing to positively move the needle in academic performance. He mentioned three things the elementary schools will be working on this school year including improving access to research and best practices for teachers; enhanced proficiencies and responsiveness to students; and increasing communications between team members.

- Authorized seven field trips including two for the wrestling team – one in December and one in January; an overnight trip for the speech and debate team in December; the JAGS program will attend the High School Model U.N. Conference in New York City in February; a trip for the marine biology class in February; a trip for the culinary students in April; and the seventh grade trip to Washington D.C. in May. All at no cost to the board.

- Approved sending the five-year forecast to the Ohio Department of Education as required by the state.

- Approved moving the November regular meeting date from 5 p.m. Nov. 19 to 5 p.m. Nov. 18 at Lake Cable Elementary School.
