Art instructor at Green Intermediate School, was named the 2019 Teacher of the Year during Monday's annual Education Celebration.

MASSILLON  Erin Wozniak, an art teacher at Green Intermediate School, was recognized Monday as the 2019 Teacher of the Year during the Stark County Educational Service Center's annual Education Celebration at R.G. Drage Career Technical Center.

The award was selected by a panel of judges that included representatives from Carrabba's Italian Grill, AultCare and The Canton Repository.

Wozniak, who has been with the Green Local School District in Summit County for three years, was recognized for her ability to teach every student as if he or she were her own child. She also has created a line of homemade dolls she donates to children with special needs and charities and has illustrated a series of books that contain an uplifting message of perseverance and inclusion.

Green is among the 23 districts in Stark and four surrounding counties under the Stark County ESC's direction.

Monday's event also recognized Robert Roden, who spent more than 50 years in education as a teacher, principal and superintendent and who now sits on the North Canton Board of Education. He received the Lifetime Educator Award.

Also honored were the teachers named to the 2019 "rookie team" — innovative teachers with fewer than three years of teaching experience — and the 2019 teaching team, which includes educators who have displayed a history of going above and beyond to educate their students.
