GREEN  The Green Local Schools Board of Education honored students, staff and parents during the March board meeting.

There were two sets "Students of the Month" from February and March. For February, the following students were recognized: Greenwood, Easton Dimoff; Green Primary, Elliana Jurkowski; Green Intermediate, Madison Cohen; Green Middle School, Morgan Goodin; Green High School, Emily Gage and Kevin Lin. For March, these students were recognized:Greenwood, Sophia Caughey; Green Primary, David Elliot; Green Intermediate, Raymond Maynard; Green Middle School, Avery Robinson; and Green High School, Emily Christopher and Vincent Badalamenti.

Spotlight on Staff for March recognized Art Teacher Erin Wozniak, Special Education Aide Shelley McAfee and Intervention Specialist Nick Landi. The PTA Helping Hands Award were given to Janet Hill, Green Primary; Kris Graham, Green Intermediate and Middle School; and Scott Plummer, Ann Alderman, Bob Alderman and David Diver, all from Green High School.

In other business, the Board accepted the retirement of teacher John Berry and the resignation of Intervention Specialist Trena Foringer. The Board also hired the following; Kelsey Derks, home instructor; Elizabeth Ringer and Abbigai Wise, long-term substitute; Edward Cybak, Grace Franjesevic, Brandi Keplinger, Lisa Pafford and Geoffrey Thacker, Blended Learning Academy content support teachers; Erin Maxwell, long-term special education aide; and Justin Lipscomb, maintenance worker.

The Board approved trips for the the following: Green Middle School to Washington D.C., and Gettysburg in November, 2019, and the Green High Spanish Club to Costa Rica in June, 2020.

In other actions, the upcoming renewal levy was discussed. This will be Issue 6 on the May ballot.

- "Hidden in Plain Sight", dealing with how students hide drugs, and will be held on April 25 in the Central Park Community Room.

- The Board then adjourned to Executive Session.

The next meeting will be held on April 29 at 6:30 in Council Chambers in the Central Administration Building.
