Driver pulled into path of turning tractor-trailer, then struck another car, deputies say.

GREEN  The 71-year-old driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Corvette was killed early Thursday morning when he pulled into the path of a tractor-trailer, according to a news release from the Summit County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies, Green Fire Department firefighter/medics and members of the Summit Metro Crash Response Team responded to the crash at 7:30 a.m. on East Turkeyfoot Lake Road.


Sheriff's Inspector Bill Holland said in a news release the Corvette driver, who lived in Green, had pulled into the path of a 1999 tractor-trailer that was turning into a gas station. After they collided, the car continued on, striking a 2016 Honda Civic.

The drivers of the truck and the Honda were not injured. The driver of the Corvette was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash, which remained under investigation today, closed East Turkeyfoot Lake Road for about three hours Thursday, Holland said.
