JACKSON TWP.  A local company will be constructing the new Dave & Buster’s at Belden Village Mall.

Eckinger Construction Company, based in Canton, recently began construction on the inside portion of Dave & Buster’s.

“We are excited to have gotten this project locally,” Eckinger Construction Company Vice President Jeremy Eckinger said.

Dave & Buster’s is taking over approximately 34,000 square-feet of the upstairs floor of the Sears’ store at Belden Village Mall. Earlier this year, Sears downsized their store to just the first floor and is expected to remodel the space and remain open.

The entire Sears’ property is owned by Seritage Growth Properties. Plans call for an additional tenant to occupy approximately the remaining 25,000 square-feet on the second floor with access on the north side near Chili's restaurant. There will also be three smaller tenants on the lower level on the south side of the property. Eckinger said he isn’t aware of any leases being signed for the other spaces.

Access to Dave & Buster’s will be from the Belden Village Street side and Eckinger said there will be a passenger elevator and stairs which guests will take to access the second floor.

Eckinger said his company has worked with Dave & Buster’s since 2002 on building several locations along with remodeling many others. He said the company has traveled all over the United State remodeling locations and just a few years ago remodeled the Westlake location.

Second floor Dave & Buster’s are a pretty common model, he said, as one location Eckinger worked on in Orlando has the parking beneath the location and customers ride an elevator from the parking area.

Construction will take several months to complete but the goal is to open the new location in late October.

 “There is nothing else quite like it in Stark County,” Eckinger said. “It is going to be a great place to watch sports.”
