In classrooms across the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank’s eight-county service area, nearly one in five children will face hunger this year and teachers, administrators and staff at Lake Local Schools know first-hand the impact hunger has on children in schools.
Community members can help fight against hunger as the Lake Local is participating in The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank's Hunger: The Bus Stops here food drive. Between April 22 and April 25, people can bring nonperishable food items to Lake Primary, Lake Elementary or Lake Middle/Senior High School offices. Boxes of food will then be delivered by district school buses to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank on April 29.
The goal of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is to collect enough food for 60,000 meals through this drive.
The foodbank, in partnership with its extensive network of food pantries, hot meals sites, shelters and other hunger-relief programs, works to meet needs and provide hope to the families struggling with hunger. The foodbank distributes more than 125,000 pounds of food each day, the equivalent of 104,000 meals.
