GREEN  Dr. Michael Van Ness of Canton will sign copies of his new historical biography, "General in Command: The Life of Major General John B. Anderson from Iowa Farm to Command of the Largest Combat Corps in World War II," on March 31 at the MAPS Air Museum, 2260 International Parkway NW.

The book details the life of Van Ness' maternal grandfather, who oversaw the Allied Forces' historic crossing of the Rhine and served alongside such historic figures as Gen. Dwight Eisenhower and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

The book release coincides with the opening of a MAPS exhibit devoted to Anderson's military career. The exhibit will include uniforms, artifacts and photos.

Van Ness will be at the museum from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To learn more about MAPS,
