'Putnam County Spelling Bee'

Kent State University at Stark Theatre will hold its second theatrical production of the 2018-19 season, “The 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, a musical comedy by playwrights William Finn, Rachel Sheinkin and Rebecca Feldman. The performances will be at 7:30 p.m. for March 8 and 9 and at 2 p.m. March 10 and takes place at the Mary J. Timken Theatre, located in Fine Arts Building, 6000 Frank Avenue. NW. Tickets for the show can be purchased online at www.kent.edu/stark/25th-annual-putnam-county-spelling-bee, by phone at 330-244-3348 or in person at the box office in the Fine Arts lobby. Will call opens one hour prior to performances. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for senior citizens and non-KSU students. Tickets are free to all Kent State students with student IDs.  

Sugaring Camp

Enjoy a hearty pancake breakfast and then head out into the Sugaring Camp to learn about tree tapping, the maple sugar process and experience oxen demonstrations. View period arts and crafts like glassblowing, blacksmithing, pottery, and spinning and weaving. The Maple Sugar Festival and Pancake breakfast is being held at Hale Farm 2686 Oak Hill Road Saturdays and Sundays, March 9-17 to from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (breakfast served 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) Admission for adults is $15 (includes breakfast), children 3 to12 years $10 (includes breakfast), members $5, breakfast only $5 (reservations not necessary).

Scrapbooking and cardmaking

Grace United Church of Christ (UCC) in Uniontown is hosting an eight-hour Scrapbooking Crop and Card-Making Fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 16. Crafters in the community can reserve a table to participate. The $25 per person registration fee includes the use of one 8-foot table per person for 8 hours, snacks throughout the day and a salad bar lunch, hourly door prize drawings, use of Cricut and Sizzix die-cutting and Cuttlebug embossing machines plus 100 plus punches and various stencils. Helpers will be available starting at 8:30 a.m. Basket raffle tickets are available.
