The Jackson Township Lions Club celebrated the start of its 43rd year on Feb. 7 with the annual Rose Day with a dinner at the Jackson High School Bears’ Den Café. This event is the kickoff of one of the Club’s major fundraisers.
Lions Club members are offering a dozen of roses for $20; delivered anywhere in Stark County on Saturday, April 6.
Guest Speaker at the dinner was Mike Levy, the COO of the Canton Charge G-League basketball team. He stated the Canton team is closely associated with the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA and that the Charge have been successful in their eight seasons in Canton and rank 7th in attendance in the 27 team league. His message to the Club is hard work at whatever you are doing brings success.
Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organization, is celebrating more than 100 years of service to world needs. Tbhe club programs are eye screenings to preschoolers and adults, assistance to needy families at Christmas, three scholarships to graduating high school students, diabetes programs and much more. The Club has served the local community for over 58 years.
All members of the Jackson Township Lions Club can take orders for roses. They are long stem roses packaged for delivery to loved ones. The order deadline is Wednesday, March 10.
