In anticipation of frigid weather and heavy snowfall this weekend, several area events have been canceled or postponed, and the Massillon Museum will close its doors early.
The Massillon Museum will close at 1 p.m. Saturday but is expected to reopen for regular hours on Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m.
The Quail Hollow Herb Society meeting set for 2 p.m. Sunday has been rescheduled. The annual herbal potluck lunch and discussion has been moved to 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 3. For more information, contact Mary Lovin at 330-325-3028.
The start time for the Malone University women's basketball game Saturday at Ursuline College has been moved up an hour and will tip off at 1 p.m.
The Jackson High School boys basketball team's game against Mentor scheduled for Saturday night has been canceled.
This weekend's Mercy Medical Center Basketball Classic at Hoover High School is being postponed to Feb. 16 and Feb. 17. Games this weekend were scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, with five games set to be played each day. Teams scheduled to play were the Federal League's GlenOak, Green, Hoover, Lake, McKinley and Perry, the Suburban League's Copley, Revere, Tallmadge and Wadsworth, as well as area teams Carrollton, East Canton, Lake Center Christian and Louisville. Six other teams from outside the area also were coming to the event.
North Canton City Schools cancellations for Saturday: All middle school practices; freshman basketball practice; bowling tournament in Heath, Ohio; swimming and diving meet at Perry; Wooster Speech Tournament; Berlin Hiland's Girls Basketball "Classic in the Country;" OMEA District 08 Solo and Ensemble Contests at GlenOak and Massillon Washington High School.
Canton City Schools has canceled all activities and sports for Saturday and Sunday.
