HARTVILLE Village Council approved several service contracts for 2019 at its Dec. 4 regular council meeting.
The three one-year agreements are for village solicitor, Mayor’s Court magistrate and cleaning services, effective Jan. 1, 2019.
The $31,200 per year contract with the village’s solicitor, Ronald Starkey of the Starkey Law Firm, reflects no increase from the 2018 agreement. Likewise, the $165 per court session agreement with Mayor’s Court magistrate Joyce Lamb and the $105 per week cleaning contract with Carol Brown each mirror the 2018 contract amounts, Mayor Cynthia Billings said.
Councilman Jim Sullivan made a motion that each of the agreements be passed by emergency, taking effect immediately, in order to avoid any lapse in service. Each contract was approved unanimously by Council.
- Council also approved a one-year renewal, effective Jan. 1, 2019, with the Stark County Public Defender Commission to provide legal representation to indigent persons for cases under village ordinances; and amended the annual 2018 village appropriations to reflect a $46,030 expenditure to replace all windows in village hall.
