COVENTRY TWP. Coventry Local Schools continues to edge closer to being removed from fiscal emergency status.

During the Nov. 27 Financial Planning and Supervision Commission meeting, the commission heard an update from Coventry Treasurer Sherry Tyson on the accounting methods. She said four more items have been addressed and the district is waiting on approval from the Ohio Auditor’s Office.

There is only one outstanding accounting methods item that must be addressed for the district to ask to be removed from fiscal emergency.

In other business Nov. 27, the commission:

- Approved a contract to replace the heating and cooling system at Coventry Elementary School. Superintendent Lisa Blough said none of the existing systems can communicate with each other. She said all the communication systems will be replaced. The district received another quote for the work and the quote was very close to the original one accepted from The K Company.

- Approved personnel items, contracts and purchase orders for more than $25,000.

The next Financial and Supervision Commission meeting is set for 4 p.m. Jan. 7 at Coventry High School.
