GREEN — The Kids Country daycare center on Town Park Boulevard is closed after a portion of the building caught fire Wednesday night.

No injuries were reported.

"Some of you may already be aware, the back of our building caught fire this evening," the daycare center posted on its Facebook page. "No children were in the building, it happened after hours. Due to this, we will be closed for business tomorrow and Friday."

Kids Country urged parents to make other arrangements.

Green firefighters responded to the blaze at 6:46 p.m. and had the fire under control in about 10 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Green Fire Chief Jeffrey Funai said the fire began in a bathroom in the gym and it extended into the roof. None of the classrooms were damaged by fire.

Some staff members were in the building at the time for an exercise program, noticed the fire and alerted authorities.

Funai said it's unclear when the gym would be able to reopen.

Five fire companies responded to the scene to help Green firefighters: Jackson Township, Greentown, Uniontown, Springfield Township and Coventry Township.
