Sandy Valley snatched victory from the jaws of defeat when it came back from a three goal deficit to beat Canton South 4-3.
The Cardinals got off to a bright start in the match and mounted some very promising attacks on the Wildcats’ goal. However, Sandy Valley could not make their early pressure count and found themselves 3-0 down at halftime.
The Cardinals regrouped and refocused at the half and came out with terrific energy and purpose.
Brayden Ashton started the comeback with a nice strike from 30 yards out that nestled into the bottom corner. Set pieces were a threat all night for the Cardinals and finally paid off with goals scored by Tad Grooms and Jamon McCort from a long throw and a corner from Tyler Lumbert.
The comeback was completed five minutes before the end of the game when another set piece dropped into the box and was scrambled over the line by the men in red.
Sandy Valley led in shots 19-8 and corner kicks 6-2. Caleb Everetts had seven saves.
