A Canton man, 22, was charged Sept. 22 with disorderly conduct by intoxication. Officers found him stumbling in the street at Whipple Avenue and Spring Brook Plaza. He was taken to the Stark County Jail for his own safety and because he could not find a ride home.

On Sept. 21, a business owner on Strauss Avenue Northwest told police someone stole outgoing mail from her mailbox. The day before, she discovered a check belonging to her business was forged and cashed at a bank in Ellet for $1,365.44.

A Louisville man, 29, was booked into the Stark County Jail Sept. 21 on a domestic violence charge. Police said he punched the mother of his child several times during an argument over food outside a Portage Street Northwest store.

A bag containing documents, shoe booties and other items was reported stolen Sept. 21 from an unlocked vehicle in the 1300 block of Concord St. NW.

On Sept. 20, police responded to a burglar alarm at a Hills and Dales Road golf course. Someone apparently forced entry into the main building. An inventory of missing property was pending further investigation.

A Norton man, 38, was jailed Sept. 20 on Jackson Township warrants for forgery, a fifth-degree felony, and an attempt to commit theft.

A Laura Avenue woman was scammed out of $800 after responding to a phone caller who said her computer was locked down because of an expired computer key. She was instructed to purchase pre-paid gift cards to pay for the repair and call back with the serial numbers. She complied and later realized she had been conned.

A Canton man, 32, was charged with theft Sept. 20 at a Dressler Road department store. A security employee told police the man was seen taking items out of packages and stuffing them down his pants. The merchandise totaled $200.

A Foxchase Avenue Northwest woman told police Sept. 20 that someone in Livonia, Mich., withdrew $2,150 from her bank account. She was informed by her bank that the thief used an Ohio driver’s license to make the fraudulent withdrawal.

A Fairlawn woman reported someone smashed out a passenger window on her SUV while she was attending classes at Kent State University Stark Campus on Sept. 20.

On Sept. 19, police responded to a burglary-in-progress at an Agate Street Northwest home. The homeowner told officers he heard his garage door go up. When he went to investigate, he found three males going through his vehicles. The unknown suspects had fled on foot before officers arrived. On the same day, police responded to an attempted burglary at a home in the 5200 block of Frank Ave. NW. A back door was found heavily damaged, but no entry was made.

A Foxhaven Avenue Northwest man, 45, and his girlfriend, 44, of the same address, were charged with domestic violence Sept. 18. During a verbal argument that turned physical, police said the man punched the woman in the face and the woman struck the man and scratched him.

An employee at a Belden Village Street store reported Sept. 18 that someone used rocks to break out the front and side windows on his car.

A Massillon man, 18, of Princeton Avenue Northwest, was charged Sept. 18 with domestic violence. Police said he punched his brother in the face and kicked him several times during an altercation at their home. He was arrested and booked into the Stark County Jail.
