An Akron man, 29, was arrested outside a South Arlington Road gas station Aug. 12 on a felony warrant for failure to comply with a police order. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.

A Sara Drive man, 34, was arrested Aug. 11 on three felony warrants out of Cuyahoga County. Deputies discovered the warrants after being called to the man’s home for a domestic dispute. The warrants are on charges for identity fraud, theft and telecommunications fraud. The man was also found with a misdemeanor warrant out of Summit County for non-support of dependents.

A North Canton man, 27, was arrested at a Landmark Boulevard hotel Aug. 11 on a warrant charging him with possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. He was taken to the Summit County Jail where he was booked.

Green firefighters responded to a gas grill fire at a home on Steese Road Aug. 11. A resident called the department after attempting to put out the blaze himself. The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Deputies were told Aug. 10 a man left an Interstate Parkway home improvement store with a $399 combo tool kit without paying for it. The incident was captured on security video Aug. 8.

Thieves entered three unlocked vehicles parked at a home on Treeview Drive Aug. 9. Two laptop computers worth $2,500, along with a duffel bag and two $20 bills, were reported stolen from a Uniontown woman’s car. About $40 was reported taken from a van. Nothing was reported missing from the third vehicle.

A black Chevrolet Cruze was reported stolen Aug. 9 after someone entered an open garage in the 4300 block of Ridge View Drive. The keys were in the vehicle at the time.

Deputies are searching for a man and woman accused of cashing two fraudulent checks from a Global Gateway company’s bank account, according to an Aug. 8 report. The two checks, totaling $9,247, were found in a nightly deposit by a bank employee.


An 18-year-old Canton man was charged with possession of drugs Aug. 11 after deputies found a baggie of marijuana in his car during a traffic stop on South Arlington Road.

A South Bender Avenue man, 42, was arrested at his home Aug. 10 on warrants charging him with domestic violence and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.

A 35-year-old Akron woman was booked into the Summit County Jail Aug. 10 after being arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. Deputies discovered the warrant during a traffic stop on Robinson Avenue.

A man and woman wanted on several felony warrants were arrested Aug. 8 after they were reportedly found hiding in a bedroom at a Killian Road home. The 28-year-old Elyria man and 27-year-old Massillon woman were taken into custody and later released to the Norton Police Department where the warrants had been issued.


On Aug. 12, a Taplin Avenue woman reported someone gained entry into her home by cutting the screen on the sliding glass door. She found items had been tampered with in the kitchen and about $40 missing.

On the same day, a resident on the same street told police someone poured white paint and an unknown substance on her and her husband’s vehicles parked in the driveway. White paint was also found on the patio, along with a beer bottle.

A Van Buren Road man, 60, was charged with violating an animal control ordinance Aug. 11 after a neighbor complained the man’s cows were running loose on her property. The man was charged with the same offense two days before after his cows were found wandering on Rheam Road.

A 39-year-old Akron woman stopped for an equipment violation on State Route 619 Aug. 11 was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Also, during an inventory search of her car prior to it being towed, police reportedly found two metal grinders, for which the woman was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police were investigating a burglary reported Aug. 10 at a home in the 5900 block of South Main Street. The day before, a burglary was also reported at a home in the 4200 block of State Park Drive.

While performing a welfare check at a Midland Avenue home Aug. 8, a police officer reported seeing three marijuana plants in plain view on a kitchen table as well as various drug devices in the living room. More marijuana plants were eventually found in the home. A 26-year-old male resident was charged with cultivating marijuana and released with a court summons. His girlfriend was arrested on a felony warrant out of Medina County and released to authorities there. Police seized the plants and drug paraphernalia from the home.

A Pamela Drive woman told police Aug. 8 that someone used her identity and a previous address to secure a loan for $1,405.48.


On Aug. 14, a manager of a Laverne Lane trailer park told police a Canton woman signed a lease last November and gave him two checks for $420 that were later returned for insufficient funds. Attempts to contact the woman by phone and certified letters have been unsuccessful.

An Alta Vista Avenue woman was scammed out of $950 after an Atlanta man, whom she had never met or seen a picture of, asked her to send him money so he could buy a drill press for work. The woman said they had been texting each other and believed it was a serious relationship.

A Martin Crest Drive man told police Aug. 14 that someone used his bank account information on two occasions to withdraw a total of $500 from ATMs in Indiana and Warren.

On Aug. 13, a Coach Lane man called police after a woman offering cleaning services entered his home without permission. After being told no, the woman left her name and phone number. Police later contacted the woman and advised her not to return to the home.

A Lake Road woman, 38, was charged Aug. 13 with domestic violence. Police said she screamed at her 62-year-old mother and threw items at her during an argument.

Theft charges were pending against a 35-year-old Akron woman accused of stealing jewelry from a South Arlington Road department store on Aug, 13.

Police responded to an Aug. 13 call of two men possibly breaking into a car in a store parking lot on East Waterloo Road. Officers located the suspects inside a nearby restaurant. A Norton man, 28, was found wanted on a felony warrant out of Summit County. During a search of his vehicle, officers reported finding 15 hypodermic needles, a meth pipe and a digital scale. The man was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia and released to a sheriff’s deputy on the warrant. The other suspect, a 33-year-old of North Canton, was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and released to Massillon police.

On Aug. 12, a Massillon Road man reported someone stole his four garbage cans that he had left by the curb for garbage pickup.

A Shady Way man, 36, was arrested on a felony warrant Aug. 11 as he was walking through a backyard on Tritt Drive. He was released to a sheriff’s deputy and taken to the Summit County Jail.

A Farmdale Road man, 19, was charged Aug. 11 with criminal damaging. Police said he threw a beer bottle through a neighbor’s window as he was driving past the home.

On Aug. 10, a Plymouth Drive woman told police her bank notified her that someone made several unauthorized withdrawals from her account from an ATM in Indiana. The total amount taken was listed at $1,533.

While patrolling Canton Road Aug. 10, an officer spotted a man urinating in a parking lot. The 26-year-old man of Laverne Lane was found with a warrant from the Copley Township Police Department. While making a permitted phone call to his mother, the man took off running and could not be located. Warrants for public indecency and obstructing official business were issued for his arrest. 

An Akron man, 32, was charged Aug. 9 with endangering children. Police said he left his 2-year-old daughter buckled in the back seat of a car while he went inside a South Arlington Road department store. He told police she was asleep and didn’t want to disturb her.

A Green man reported someone entered his vehicle while he was at a Canton Road business Aug. 9 and stole his golf bag and clubs worth over $3,000. Some of the clubs were located at a sporting goods store in Cuyahoga Falls where they were sold for cash.

A Ravenna man, 38, was arrested on a felony drug possession charge Aug. 8 after he was found passed out in his car outside a Canton Road fast food restaurant. He also was charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. During a search of his car, police reported finding methamphetamine, marijuana, drug pipes, multiple knives and brass knuckles, and a counterfeit $100 bill.


On Aug. 13, a Lakemore man told police his ex-girlfriend came to his place of business on Adams Street and carved an obscenity on the back of his SUV.

A Danforth Road woman, 33, was charged Aug. 11 with domestic violence. Police said she slapped her son in the face after he took her keys to prevent her from driving while drunk.

A Lincoln Street woman reported Aug. 6 someone deflated two tires on her car by stabbing them with a sharp object.
