On July 10, deputies were told a man and a woman left a Corporate Woods Parkway supermarket with two shopping carts filled with meat products and cases of pop without paying. The couple was seen loading the groceries into a Ford minivan.

Security personnel at an Arlington Ridge department store called deputies July 9 after a woman allegedly left with two TVs without paying. The suspect was described as white, approximately 25 to 30 years old, with brown hair, standing five foot eight, and weighing between 140 and 160 pounds.

A Massillon Road business owner told deputies July 9 that someone attempted to make several purchases on his credit card account. He also discovered $500 was withdrawn from a joint account that had its password and address changed. On the same day, a resident on the same street reported someone used her debit card and credit card numbers for unauthorized transactions totaling $494.59.

An Akron man, 26, was arrested July 8 on a felony warrant and on a charge of felony receiving stolen property. Deputies said he was found on Lauby Road in possession of a car reported stolen by a North Canton woman. Deputies found the car broken down on an exit ramp and shortly after located the man outside a nearby hotel carrying a gas can.

On July 7, deputies responded to a call from a South Arlington Road fast found restaurant about a woman yelling in the parking lot. A background check on the 33-year-old woman revealed she had an active warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested and taken to the Summit County Jail.

Employees at an animal hospital on Corporate Woods Parkway called deputies July 7 to report an Akron man became belligerent and threatening over his dog’s treatment. During a phone conversation with a deputy, the man reportedly made threats of physically harming someone if his dog died. A warrant for aggravated menacing was later issued for the man’s arrest.

Deputies responded to a criminal damaging report on Mayfair Road on July 6. A woman said someone scratched the passenger side of her car, broke the right taillight and put dents in the driver and passenger doors.

A Coventry Township man reported his pickup truck fell off the conveyor rail at a South Arlington Road car wash, causing damage. He was advised the incident was a civil matter.

A Barberton woman, 30, was charged with theft July 6 after she allegedly attempted to leave an Arlington Ridge department without paying for $153 in cosmetics. She was issued a court summons and released.

A Uniontown man reported someone stole the battery from his boat while it was docked at a South Main Street location July 4. The boat seat was also damaged, he said.

Thieves broke into a fenced-in construction site on Boettler Road on July 3 and stole an air compressor, two 100-foot power cords and an acetylene torch, total value $1,300. Three-hundred feet of copper pipe worth $1,200 was found damaged. This was the second break-in at the site in three days, according to a report.


A 13-year-old girl was booked into the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center July 9 on a domestic violence charge. Deputies said during an altercation at the home, the girl hit her mother in the face and back, and when she fell, kicked her.

On July 6, a Boat Drive man told deputies he interrupted a would-be thief who was trying to steal the battery from his boat. He said the suspect fled in a rusted, tan pickup truck.

A Longacre Drive woman, 30, was charged July 6 with domestic violence and menacing. She is accused of making threats of physical violence toward her father and his girlfriend during an altercation outside the home.

While performing a welfare check on Chaffin Road July 6, deputies arrested a 34-year-old Akron woman on a warrant and released her to Barberton police.


On July 7, an officer patrolling State Route 93 spotted a car stopped in the middle of the street. A woman inside the vehicle said she and a male companion had run out of gas. A computer check revealed the woman had a warrant out on her. She was arrested and turned over to Canal Fulton police.

On July 6, police were called to Dusty’s Road for a report of a theft from a boat. A man told an officer he saw a young white male covered in tattoos enter a woman’s boat and take several items. The woman later confirmed the stolen property belonged to her.

A Grove Road woman, 38, was charged with having a dog at large July 6 after a neighbor complained the woman’s dog was on her property and had photos of the incident. The woman had been warned in the past to keep her dog contained, police said.

A Manchester Road woman reported July 4 that someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her wallet. The day before, a Southwest Avenue woman reported property stolen from her unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway.

A Rawlins Avenue woman reported someone with a pellet gun shot the rear window on her car sometime during the overnight hours of July 3.

An officer was flagged down by a concerned citizen on Cleveland-Massillon Road and told a suspicious man was walking southbound tampering with mailboxes. The officer located the man shortly after. During a pat down, the man was found with a drug device and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, a computer check showed he was wanted on a warrant. He was arrested and turned over to county sheriff’s deputies.

On July 2, a resident on West Turkeyfoot Lake Road reported someone stole the batteries from two of his vehicles.

A Manchester Road woman called police July 2 to report a man she knows purposely turfed her front yard with his truck. While an officer was taking the report at the woman’s home, the man showed up and admitted driving in the woman’s yard. He was charged with criminal damaging and criminal trespass and released with a court summons.

On July 1, police responded to a fight at a party on Center Road. According to the report, two sisters began beating up on two other women. One of the sisters, a 22-year-old, was charged with assault. She reportedly told police she fought with the other women because she found out they had sex with her ex-boyfriend. Her younger sister was charged with underage alcohol consumption. Assault charges against her were pending at the time of the report, police said.


An Ellet Avenue man, 26, was charged July 10 with domestic violence. His girlfriend told police the man began yelling and pushing her while they were arguing in a car with their infant child in the backseat.

A man hired to clean out a garage on Kubler Trail told police he found the door kicked in and the lock damaged when he arrived there on July 10. A wheelbarrow, a level and a sledgehammer that were inside the garage were found in the yard. Also, various wrenches that were hanging over a workbench were missing.

An Orchard Lane woman, 43, was charged with assaulting her male roommate on July 9. Police said the two got into a verbal argument over an iPhone that became physical when the woman pulled a handful of hair out of the man’s head and forced him to the ground.

A homeless woman was transported to a hospital for a mental evaluation July 8 after she was found yelling outside a Canfield Road drive-thru. Police said the woman was talking to herself about men in airplanes with guns that had been talking to her every day for the past year.

Charges of violating a protection order were pending against a 31-year-old Sagamore Hills man July 8. He is accused of sending an email to an Old Home Road man through a third party.

A Seneca Trail man, 36, was arrested on a felony drug possession charge July 7. Police reported finding crystal methamphetamine in his possession during a traffic stop near his home. He also was charged with possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

Two Akron men, both 19, were charged with disorderly conduct July 7. Police said the two were swearing and threatening each other in the middle of a public swimming pool on Canton Road while other patrons, including children, were nearby.

A Yamaha motorcycle was reported stolen July 3 from outside a Shadybrook Drive home.

A 42-year-old Akron man was arrested on multiple felony warrants July 3 after he was allegedly caught stealing copper wire from an Arlington Road home improvement store. The warrants were on charges for illegal conveyance of a weapon into a detention facility, aggravated possession of drugs and possession of drug abuse instruments.

An official at a South Arlington Road church told police July 2 that their bank called to inform them that three checks with a total value of nearly $5,000 were fraudulently cashed. An attempt to cash a fourth check was denied. Police were investigating.


An Elizabeth Avenue woman reported July 12 that someone used her identity to open a credit account and made fraudulent charges totaling $1,407.

On July 9, a Canton Road business owner told police a man called and said his son, who has mental health problems, was going to buy a gun and shoot her. Police were investigating.

A Catherine Avenue man, 27, was charged July 6 with possession of marijuana, driving under suspension, loud exhaust and no license plate lights. Police reported finding two baggies of marijuana in his car during a traffic stop on Lakeside Drive.

A Front Street woman reported someone damaged the large picture window at her home July 6.

An Akron woman, 24, of Russell Avenue, was charged July 5 with child endangering. Police reported finding the woman’s 3-year-old son standing alone on the side of the road on Main Street on July 4. The child was placed in foster care while police were undergoing an investigation.

On July 3, a manager at a Canton Road discount store reported a man came in and picked up two backpacks from a display, filled them with merchandise, and then fled out the door.


On July 13, a Prince Georges Avenue man reported someone used his identity to open a Comcast account. Accrued charges on the account totaled $513.

Two credit cards and $500 were reported stolen July 12 from an unlocked car on Crestview Circle Northwest.

An Oaklynn Street man, 34, was charged July 7 with three counts of aggravated menacing. Police said he threatened three people with a kitchen knife during a confrontation outside a neighbor’s home.

A manager at an Edison Street restaurant reported several people left without paying their $63 dining bill July 7.

A Cosmos Street man, 18, was booked into the Stark County Jail July 7 on a domestic violence charge. Police said he made threats to his mother that he was going to burn down her house and hit her on the head with an axle rod.

A Canton man reported his 2006 Honda Accord was stolen while he and his wife were at an Edison Street flea market July 7. The vehicle was recovered the next day and returned to the owner.


An E. Maple Street man, 47, was charged July 14 with disorderly conduct. Police were called to a W. Maple Street gas station where the man reportedly was bothering customers at the pumps while heavily intoxicated. Officers located the man shortly after staggering in a roadway.

On July 12, a Laurencrest Street man reported some oxycodone pills were taken from a prescription bottle at his home. He believes a home health aide is responsible. Police were investigating.
