Coventry Cometstock

Cometstock will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 11 in the Coventry High School theater and cafeteria. There will be nonstop musical entertainment. The 140-member marching band will play highlights from the season, the jazz band will play some great jazz standards, the 40-member men's choir will create laughter with barbershop music, the 70-member women's choir has some great familiar favorites, the select chamber ensemble has a variety of tunes both popular and new and the day will end with the school funk band rockin' to tunes from the 70s and on. Food will be available for purchase, there will be a 50/50 raffle, and face painting and balloon animals for all. Tickets can be purchased at the door, cash only: $7 for adults, $5 for high school/college students and senior citizens, $3 for elementary and middle school students, 5 and younger are free.

Bark in the Park

The Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) is partnering with Lock 3 for its annual Bark in the Park event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 12. This dog and family-friendly event will feature a Pledge Walk and Fun Run as well as a Pet Expo with vendors, food trucks, entertainment and activities for pets and people. Proceeds will provide necessary support for HSSC’s mission to serve the abandoned, abused and neglected animals of Summit County through its rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption services. The 1.1-mile walk and run begin at noon. Attendees will enjoy live entertainment, a pet blessing, local food trucks, a beer garden, product vendors, games, contests, basket raffle, $1,000 Grand Prize raffle, demonstrations of dog agility, and the opportunity to meet some of HSSC’s adoptable animals on the Mobile Adoption Center. Run for Recovery

The Run for Recovery Tri-County will be held at 8 a.m. May 12 in Lakemore. Participants can walk or run to support Hope United and Restore Addiction recovery in building a sober-living campus that will support those struggling with addiction in a seamless, long-term program to heal.
