GREEN  The City of Green is teaming with the Cleveland Clinic Akron General to launch Healthy Green, a healthy communities initiative. The program, which will expand and grow as additional healthy lifestyle partners join, is designed to help community members begin to make small changes to impact their overall health.

As part of the initial launch, Cleveland Clinic Akron General is hosting a free Wellness Challenge as a Healthy Green Kick off, which begins and ends with a health screening for participants and includes free admission to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Lifestyles in Green three days a week as well as healthy lifestyle classes every Tuesday in diet, nutrition, heart health and more during the eight-week program.

Space is limited and registration is required for the program. To register, contact Sara Arend at 330-721-5992 or The program begins May 12 and runs through the end of June.

"We are pleased to partner with Cleveland Clinic Akron General to help promote and share healthy lifestyle programs in our community," said Green Mayor Gerard Neugebauer in a news release. "While health is an individual’s effort, community support through programs such as these is valuable to the individuals who participate, but also over time impacts the overall health of the community."

As part of the Healthy Green Initiative, the city is looking for additional health partners who offer free or discounted fitness or healthy living and lifestyle programs.  As partners, the city and Cleveland Clinic Akron General will share events and opportunities with the community. Contact Troy Clevenger at 330-896-5015 or for more information.
