An Akron man, 58, was arrested for disorderly conduct April 9 following a tirade at a Fulton Drive restaurant. Police said the man became upset over something and began "screaming obscenities" at employees. During the rant, he grabbed a manager and spit in his face, police said.
Police were investigating a male suspect who reportedly stole a motorcycle from outside a Whipple Avenue business on April 8.
A Thackeray Avenue Northwest man, 49, was booked into the Stark County Jail April 8 on a domestic violence charge. His wife told police the man punched her twice in the head and repeatedly pulled her hair while he had her cornered at their home.
On April 7, a North Canton woman called police after she came out of a Mega Street department store and found a pair of brown shoes on her car’s windshield. An officer collected the item and entered it into the police department’s property room.
A Canton woman, 22, of 20th Street Northwest, was charged April 7 with domestic violence. Her mother told police the woman pulled her hair out and struck during an argument at the home. The incident allegedly occurred in front of the woman’s one-year-old child and while she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
A Massillon man said another man intentionally elbowed him in the face while they were playing basketball at the YMCA on Caritas Circle on April 7. Police were investigating.
A Canton woman, 39, of Alan Page Drive Southeast, was arrested April 7 on a warrant charging her with forgery, a fifth-degree felony. She was booked into the Stark County Jail.
A Traphagen Street couple told police when they returned home from a vacation on April 7, they found damage inside the house and several items missing. They believe the suspect is someone acquainted with the person who was watching their house. Police were investigating.
A Canton man, 43, was arrested at a Dressler Road department store April 7 on charges of theft and possession of criminal tools. Police said the man was seen on closed-circuit TV opening a package with a pocketknife and stuffing the item inside his clothing.
On April 6, a Rose Lane man told police someone attempted to use his personal information to obtain a loan from a Dressler Road financing company.
Police responded to two "smash and grab" incidents reported April 6 in the parking lot of an Everhard Road business. A Minerva woman reported her purse was stolen after someone smashed a window on her vehicle. An Akron woman reported $15 and a bottle of prescription pills were taken from her vehicle.
During a traffic stop on Audubon Street April 6, police arrested a 29-year-old Massillon woman on charges of possession of marijuana and driving with plates registered to another vehicle.
On April 5, police responded to a call of an intoxicated male inside a Strip Avenue bookstore. The 45-year-old man was arrested after police found he had active warrants for theft and criminal trespass. He was turned over to Canton police.
A Stoney Ridge Road man told police April 5 that he mailed two check payments and later found out that one of the checks had been stolen. He said the check was altered and made out to a woman he did not know, then forged and cashed for $986.
A Canton man, 35, was arrested April 5 on charges of theft and criminal trespass. Police said the man loaded a shopping cart with more than $300 worth of merchandise at a Mega Street department store and left without paying. He was on a no-trespass list at the store for a previous offense, police said.
Jewelry and cash with a total value of $6,274 were reported stolen from a Betz Street home April 5. A credit card, also taken, was used for unauthorized purchases totaling $144.
On April 4, a supervisor at a Whipple Avenue hotel told police someone gained entry into a room using the master key at the front desk. He believed an employee was involved. A male suspect was escorted out of the room. Employees later found items missing from the room and signs of drug use.
A Canton man, 30, was charged April 4 with disorderly conduct and obstructing official business. Police were called to a Sunset Strip Avenue hotel where the man was reportedly causing a disturbance. Officers said he appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and ignored their commands to calm down. He was arrested and taken to the Stark County Jail.
A Canton woman reported her purse was stolen after she accidentally left it by a cash register inside a store at the Belden Village Mall April 3. The $250 Coach purse contained credit cards, IDs and $150 in cash.
