GREEN The city of Green, according to a news release, is in the process of reviewing the referendum petitions submitted March 8 in response to legislation regarding the settlement agreement between the city and NEXUS. Per Ohio Revised Code, the city is required to hold any referendum petition for a minimum of 10 days to provide residents the opportunity to remove their signature if they wish and to allow the public to review the petitions.
If residents would like to review the petitions, contact the city’s Finance Department at 330-896-6603.
Although the city has until August 8, or 90 days before the election, it plans to deliver the petitions to the Summit County Board of Elections for signature verification in early April, according to the news release.
The city of Green, the release states, continues to maintain its position that the settlment is not subject to referendum. The Board of Elections will decide if the referendum will be placed on the November ballot.
