GREEN  Senior citizens now have another option for assisted living and memory care services in the city of Green.

Recently, Gables of Green Senior Living opened at 2045 Franks Parkway. The new facility opened with a 50 percent occupancy, which has already jumped to 65 to 70 percent in five weeks.

"The Gables of Green is dedicated to providing each of our residents with the highest level of personal care and attention, as well as daily access to a vast range of social, spiritual and educational events to promote an active and healthy lifestyle," said Abby Fowler, executive director for The Gables of Green Senior Living.

Fowler, along with many other partners in the project and city officials, helped cut the ribbon recently at the facility located at Heritage Crossings near the Summa Emergency. Fowler said she is honored to celebrate the opening with residents and their families.

Green Mayor Gerard Neugebauer said the new building is truly a wonderful facility and an incredible addition to the community.

Gables of Green Senior Living offers 66 assisted living apartments and 24 memory care apartments. There are four different layouts: studio, one bedroom, large one bedroom and two bedroom.

Senior Living Director Bailey Simon said the facility has technology that can help predict, monitor and detect health and safety issues for residents. Her area of study in school was memory care, so working at Gables of Green Senior Living has been a perfect fit, she said.

Simon said the technology gets to know the residents and their routines and if something seems off, nurses are notified.

"It is proven to detect falls before they happen," Simon said.

The technology can track how far apart steps taken are and even how often a resident is using the bathroom to help detect urinary tract infections.

Some of the features of the facility include all-day restaurant dining, indoor mailboxes, transportation to shopping and appointments, cable, internet, television, garden center, a courtyard, full-service beauty salon, fitness center, indoor therapy pool and movie theater. Also, the staff tries hard to have educational programing for residents because Simon said many of them are still interested in learning new things.

Gables of Green Senior Living sits on land that formerly was the Franks Farm. The land was sold to Gables of Green Senior Living, but the Franks name lives on as the library inside the building is the Pauline Franks Library. Some of her books were donated to be included in the library. Originally, Pauline Franks was going to be the first resident of the new facility, but she passed away at the Gables of Hudson in January 2017. Simon said the library is one of her favorite rooms in the building.

Mike Wojno, who oversaw the construction, said the new facility opened 470 days after the first tree was cut down. He said he knew the land because Pauline Franks was a friend of his and he also helped build Town Park Center.

He said construction went "flawlessly" and the Gables of Green Senior Living is blessed to have so many good residents.

Simon also said residents may be changing their address, but they won’t have to change their lifestyle at Gables of Green Senior Living.

Gables of Green Senior Living is managed by Arrow Senior Living and there are also locations in Hudson and Kent. Two future locations are planned in the Columbus area.
