There will be a disc golf singles tournament called "A Basket Case" Saturday at Portage Lakes Disc Golf Course (PLDGC) in Portage Lakes State Park.

This is a fundraiser for new baskets, according to tournament director Steve Goder.

"Currently on our 18 hole layout, we will have nine holes with dual baskets by the end of September," Goder said. "PLDGC needs nine more baskets. We would like to have dual baskets locations on each hole. The cost for nine DGA Mach V baskets delivered with locks is $3,375."

There will be three divisions: professional, intermediate and novice. The entry fee is $40 and a total of $20 from each entry will go toward the basket fundraiser and $20 will go toward paying out the top 40 percent in each division.

Registration can be completed on Disc Golf Scene by clicking on "A Basket Case." Online registration closes at 8 p.m. Friday. The PLDGC will accept donations for their fundraising effort. Those interested can go to to contribute via PayPal.

Registration the day of the event is from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m.  A total of 27 holes will be played with a short lunch break after 18 holes. Tee off for the first nine holes is at 10 a.m. Awards will be presented at 2:30 pm.
