At Junior Achievement of North Central Ohio (JANCO), our mission – and the missions of scores of other nonprofit organizations – is aided by the strong commitment to community service that is part of the corporate DNA at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. And that commitment was never more evident than during Goodyear’s recent Week of Volunteering (June 1-7).
JANCO was able to engage 168 Goodyear volunteers in a variety of projects: presenting Junior Achievement programming in 26 classrooms at two different schools and offering Job Shadowing at Goodyear’s headquarters for 32 area high school students; recycling JA program kits, which cuts down on our expenses; offering information technology expertise to help our office staff be more efficient; and even making thank you calls to our donors.
We were just one of the 15 area nonprofits supported by more than 1,100 Goodyear associates during the week, providing at least 5,700 hours of community service for 60 different projects. Volunteers are the lifeblood of a nonprofit organization. At JANCO, we rely on nearly 1,000 volunteers each year to meet our mission – to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.
It’s our hope that, after seeing what we do at Junior Achievement, these volunteers will want volunteer with us again throughout the year. That’s how Goodyear is helping us to build a Better Future.
On behalf of the more than 25,000 kids who receive Junior Achievement programming throughout the year, thank you to everyone at Goodyear for this investment in our community.
