The 'Bear Truth'

Learn the "Bear Truth" about the large, furry wildlife during a guided hike with a Summit Metro Parks naturalist from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at Twinsburg Ledges Area, 9999 Liberty Road in Twinsburg. Following the hike, free hot cocoa will be available in the nature center, while supplies last. For information, call 330-865-8065. Due to hunting and habitat loss, black bears were completely gone from Ohio by the 1850s. Today, the state’s permanent population is small, estimated at fewer than 100 and primarily located in the southeast part of the state. Most bear sightings in Northeast Ohio occur in the spring and is the result of juvenile males searching for a new home. However, bear tracks have been found in different seasons - including winter - in Liberty Park.

Family fun at the Y

Cabin Fever Family Fun Night will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Green Family YMCA. The Y is inviting all families in the community to come out and play. It is an evening out with family and friends with an open swim, family games and events and much more. The fun is free for everyone and so is the popcorn. Pizza, drinks and candy will be available for sale.

'Some Like it Cold'

The Akron Zoo is holding Snow Leopards at "Some Like it Cold". Visitors to the Akron Zoo will get to learn more about some of their residents who don’t mind when the weather turns colder. The program is held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about River Otters and make a corresponding craft. Plus enjoy free hot chocolate.
