JACKSON TWP.  Spring is just around the corner and the Jackson Branch of the Stark County District Library has a full schedule of children’s programming to welcome the warmer temperatures. There are programs running now and some beginning in March.

Children’s Librarian Elizabeth Stefanov said the library has programming for kids starting at birth and going through ages five and older. More teen and adult programming will be coming soon.

"We love to provide programming that helps promote childhood literacy and that encourages children to read," Stefanov said. "Any child from Stark County can sign up for any one of our many programs."

She said the Smartstore Guide covers all programming for March, April and May. All programs require registration unless noted. Register online at starklibrary.org or call 330-833-1010. Among the programs scheduled include:

Baby Time

Storytelling for ages birth to two years old, every Tuesday morning starting at 10 a.m.

Toddler Time

Storytelling, rhyming, songs and movement for age two, every Tuesday morning starting at 11 a.m. and Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

Preschool Storytime

Storytelling, rhyming, songs and movement for ages three to five, every Wednesday mornings at 11 a.m.

Storytime and More

This program is for kids aged four to seven years old and is from 6 to 7 p.m. March 16, April 20 and May 11. The March program will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with make-and-take crafts and much more. The April program will celebrate Earth Day with story time and make-and-take crafts. The May program celebrates spring.

Listen at the Library

Members of the Canton Symphony Orchestra will stop by the branch to play a couple of songs related to children’s books at 10 a.m. March 7. They will play music while the librarian reads the book. This is a drop-in program open to everybody and any age.

Game On

Families are encouraged to stop by the branch and play a variety of board games from 10 a.m. to noon March 11 and May 6. Family members can compete with each other or with other participants. Library provides the board games.

Lego Club

This is a drop-in program for families and kids of any age from 10 a.m. to noon March 25, April 22 and May 20. The library provides Legos for building fun while at the library.

Pups and Pages

Bring a favorite book or grab one from the library to read to licensed therapy dogs from 10:30 a.m. to noon April 8. These programs provide children with a criticism free and comfortable environment to practice their reading skills. This is a drop-in program for those kids who are just learning to read or are having trouble reading.

Jackson Township Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Stefanov said she will be reading books to kids at the Jackson Township annual Easter Egg Hunt held in North Park starting at 11 a.m., April 8.
