There are no words great enough to express our appreciation and love to the more than 200 volunteers who made the 12th annual Brooke McMahan Memorial Invitational Swim Meet a success.

Our daughter, Brooke, was a joyful soul who died suddenly during a seizure in 2003. The families of the Summit Special Olympics Athletic Club, of which she was a member, operate the event - which draws swimmers from throughout Northeast Ohio. The event is an uplifting day of fun that reflects Brooke's personality.

A special thanks to Summit County judges Tom Teodosio and Linda Tucci Teodosio for administering the Special Olympics oath. University of Akron President Matthew Wilson for offering kind words during the opening ceremonies, student Timmy Owens of Miller South School for his stunning solo of the national anthem and swim teams from the University of Akron as well as Green, Walsh Jesuit and Firestone high schools for lending their expertise.

Thanks to all who help keep Brooke's memory alive.

Chris and Kim (Hone) McMahan,
