NORTH CANTON The seventh annual Brews After Five hosted by the North Canton Chamber offered a chance for members of the chamber and the community to socialize and sample 10 different beers from around the world. The evening offered fun, conversation, food, live music and a chance to win baskets full of wine and other favored libations.
Doug Lane, president of the chamber, said the evening was meant for members to network and have fun. He said there were a few changes to the event this year.
"We are offering 10 beers from around the world for sampling, we have one raffle for all of the donated items and we have Champ’s All American Concession offering hot food," Lane said.
The sampling of beer included a German dark lager, an English beer, Canadian style lager and two from Gervasi, among others. Champ’s was serving pulled pork sandwiches or fried shrimp with mac and cheese and coleslaw.
Live music was provided by a local band called Prime. Lane said the event usually draws a couple of hundred people each year.
"The evening is a combination of networking, promoting the benefits of becoming a member of the chamber and it shows potential members that the chamber offers some fun along with the more serious business events," Lane said.
Money raised through the raffle will help the chamber support the many community activities such as the Christmas Sing, the 720 Market and other activities the chamber gets involved with throughout the year.
"The North Canton Chamber is looking forward to another great evening with our members and advancing unity in community and business," Lane said.
