The Jackson Township Lions Club recently held its Charter Night dinner meeting at the Embassy Suites to commenberate its service to the community. 

Officers for the Clubs 56th year are Chuck Cignetti, president; Gary Wenning, first vice president; John Whitmer, second vice president; Larry Baylor, third vice president; Ralph Manning, secretary; Mark Hudak, treasurer; Rita Burchett, lion tamer; Bill Duell, tail twister; Rick Monsell and John Woodside, two-year directors; Joe Slade and Jarry Persinger, one-year directors.

The Club was chartered in September, 1960. Lions Clubs International is a worldwide service organization of nearly 1.4 million men and women. The basic focus of Lions is involvement in vision-related care and is busy throughout the year with eye screenings. 

Guest Speaker at the dinner was Jackson Local School District Superintendent Chris DiLoreto, who outlined the goals for the school system to keep it "a great place to be schools superintendent of …"    

The next fundraiser project for the club is on Oct. 8. This event is a Reverse Raffle at Massillon Eagles on Weirich Blvd. NW in Massillon. The grand prize is $2,500. Tickets cost $100 and are available from any Lions Club member, with only 100 being sold. The winner does not need to be present.
