n The community is invited to take part in a lifesaving event to help boost the blood supply and ensure blood products are on the shelves for patients this summer. The Massillon Public Library and the American Red Cross are holding a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the library's auditorium. The Red Cross is issuing an emergency call for donors to give now to help address a significant blood shortage and ensure area patients receive the transfusions they need. n Hoover Historical Center is hosting outdoor storytelling at 10 a.m. it is a traditional event at the Hoover Historical Center, open to the public with free admission. It will be held on the patio adjacent to the Hoover Banquet Hall inside Walsh University’s Hoover Park. Storytellers are former or current children’s librarians. Each present a unique, interactive program for children (geared for 10 years or younger) and the adults who accompany them (all children must be accompanied by an adult). Sit-upons are provided for children, and seating is provided for adults. Light refreshments will be served after stories.
n Kids can join the local battle against hunger at the free Junior Hunger-Fighter Camp conducted by the Stark County Hunger Task Force (SCHTF). Youths will decorate and stuff snack bags for SCHTF Backpack for Kids program during the camp from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Community Campus at Goodwill, 408 9th St. SW.
