LAKE TWP.  Township trustees approved purchasing computer hardware and software and services to update the computer system at the administration office, the road department and the Uniontown Police Department during the regular meeting on June 27.

Board President John Arnold said the township needs to update the computer equipment and this purchase is an extensive upgrade across all departments.

"Robert Moss, our fiscal officer, has brought a new level of technology experience to the township," Arnold said. "He’s done an assessment of what we need to do upgrade the system to allow us to work with new software, share calendars and have remote access to the system. We are also updating the phone system, which is 15 years old."

The costs include $16,829 to migrate from the old to the new system, $62,368 for hardware, software, wireless equipment and a firewall. There is a $860 productivity services fee per month and a $5,000 a month network user support fee.

OTHER ACTIONS: 

n Passed a resolution to pay the bills as of June 27 in the amount of $59,393.

n Approved the purchase of push bumpers with fender and headlight protectors for eight Police SUV Interceptors at a cost of $8,206.

n Approved the purchase of a new telephone system for the administrative offices, the road department and the Uniontown Police department. Costs include $5,768 for the administrative office, $2,961 for the road department and $7,562 for the police department. There is also a one time labor charge of $5,200.
