Metro Parks: Bring your kayak or canoe with current watercraft registration to help clean up the waterways for Boating Week. Debris collected will be weighed. All participants must have watercraft registration and a life jacket. Ages 13 and up. Advanced registration required. Join the School's Out Cookout held by the Metro Parks from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm/Campfire Area at 1828 Smith Road. Celebrate Memorial Day, bring hot dogs and buns to cook over an open fire, and we'll provide drinks and condiments. Then, hike to enjoy the sights and sounds of spring. JUNE 2

An interactive animal show by Outback Ray will be held at 11 a.m. at Boettler Park in the Freda Hunter-Bates Pavilion. Outback Ray will captivate the family with his unique animal family, knowledge and fascinating facts. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs, pack a picnic lunch and visit the playground for a fun day at the park. 

JUNE 2

The Peanuts Movie will be playing at the Akron Summit Public Library's Main Branch at 6:30 p.m. Movies are free to the public. The library is located at 60 South High Street. For more information, visit www.akronlibrary.org.

JUNE 4

Walk with Mayor Gerard Neugebauer for National Trails Day at 10 a.m. at the new Steese Road multi-purpose trail. Meet at Green Middle School just before 10 a.m. It is a half-mile walk which goes to Greenwood Drive and back to the middle school. Those interested may continue their walk with the mayor to the parking lot of the new Central Park for a visual tour. It will occur rain or shine but in the event of severe weather, visit the city's Face Book page or website for cancellation.
