Equipment failure west of Canton caused a power outage Wednesday that affected 3,092 customers of AEP in Jackson Township.

Power is expected to be restored for all customers in the outage area by about 7 p.m., according to Jeff Rennie, a spokesman for AEP. The outage occurred at 3:37 p.m., he said.

Jackson police said the outage caused traffic congestion at Brunnerdale Road NW and Hills & Dales Avenue NW when the traffic lights sent out. The problem was cleared up at the intersection by 5:30 p.m. and traffic resumed its normal drive-time flow.
