Tour the Stan Hywet gardens
Tour the gardens of Stan Hywet for free. The gardens are open for walks Wednesday through Sunday for seniors 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and then from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for all guests. There is no admission, but donations are accepted online. All buildings are closed and there are no restroom facilities available. Be mindful of social distance, staying 6 feet from other guests. Once capacity on the ground is reached, guests will be allowed to enter as other guests leave the estate. The address is 714 N. Portage Path. New Franklin virtual Memorial Day
On Memorial Day, May 25, the City of New Franklin will host a virtual parade to honor fallen heroes. At 10 a.m., the city is presenting a special parade video with highlights from previous parades. The parade will be followed by the traditional events from the cemetery. Residents can post pictures and videos of Memorial Day celebrations past and present on the Virtual Memorial Facebook event page. Show your uniform (military, baseball, softball, band, or scouting). Decorate bikes, cars and trucks and wave the stars and stripes. There will be a bike decorating contest. Email pictures to email@example.com. The deadline is 3 p.m. on Memorial Day. Winners will be announced on the Facebook page.
National Veterans virtual run and walk
Join in the National Veterans Memorial and Museum Virtual Run and Walk to remember those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. A virtual one mile, 5k and 10k run and walk. Akron Children’s Museum programs
The Akron Children’s Museum hosts online programs for kids. The Home Time S.T.E.A.M. Team for ages 5 to 10 posts a new challenge every Monday for kids to do at home.
