On Valentines Day, the Madison McKinley Chapter set up a table at the Canton VA Clinic to honor veterans. The veterans received valentine cards, cookies, candies and fruit.


Vietnam veterans supplies were also on hand and more veterans were pinned with the commemorative lapel pin.


The Madison McKinley Chapter is part of the Commemorative Partnership with the Vietnam 50th Anniversary, and are available to hold an event for Vietnam veterans at the local VFW Posts, American Legion, or DAV, or anywhere veterans gather in the area. Those interested can contact the chapter.


Also, Betty Davis, 1812 VAVS Representative at the Akron VA Clinic, received 2,000 pair of socks for the veterans from Price Elementary in Cuyahoga Falls.


The Daughters of 1812 is a non-political, non-profit organization, promoting patriotism, preserving and increasing knowledge of the history of the American people, by preserving documents and relics, marking historic spots, recording family histories and traditions, celebrating patriotic anniversaries, teaching and emphasizing the heroic deeds of the civil, military and naval life of those who molded this Government between the close of the American Revolution and the close of the War of 1812, from 1784 to 1815 inclusive.
