CANTON  Catholic teens in Stark and Portage counties are invited to the Diocese of Youngstown 75th Anniversary Youth Mass at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Christ the Servant parish, 833 39th St. NW.

The Youth Mass gives teens an opportunity to gather with their peers in prayer while also learning a little about the history of the diocese.

The Diocese of Youngstown was established on May 15, 1943. Six northeastern counties were taken from the Diocese of Cleveland and were formed into the Diocese of Youngstown. Celebration of the 75th Anniversary began with a Mass on May 20 at the Cathedral of St. Columba and will continue with special events through June 9.

The Mass will begin with a procession of parish representatives.  A social will follow in the parish hall with pizza and build-your-own-ice-cream-sundae bar. Teens may attend as a member of a youth group or campus ministry or with their families.

All participants are asked to RSVP to this free event at or signing on to Facebook and searching for “Diocese of Youngstown 75th Anniversary Youth Mass (West)”  or emailing your name and number of people in your party to
