It wasn't the sort of Earth Day weather that made it easy to get outside and appreciate the natural beauty around you, but chilly conditions and rain didn't stop Schrop Intermediate students from doing their part to help green up the world around them.

Students from three of the school's sixth-grade classes celebrated Earth Day by cleaning up JEDD Park located, adjacent to the school in Springfield Township.

Under overcast skies, the students from Kristine DiLauro, Jenny Droppleman and Scott Rossiter's classes planted trees, weeded and mulched flower beds and picked up trash all around the park, which includes four baseball and softball fields used by the junior varsity and varsity teams at Springfield High School.
